Delta Discovery Picnic Days

1Delta Discovery Picnics allow the community to visit the Nueces Delta Preserve and former school field trip participants to come explore a little more. During this once-per-month open to the public event, come enjoy the sights and sounds of these protected estuary habitats. 
The dates & times are as follows:

Fall 2024
September 14: “Estuaries Alive!” 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
October 12: “Fall Migration” 
11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
November 9: “Animal Tracks”
 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
December 14: “Nature Photography”
 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Special Evening Program
January 11, 2025: “Star Party!” 5:00pm – 8:00 p.m.

Spring 2025

February 8: “Sheltering in Winter” 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
March 8: “Pollinator Invitation”
 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
April 12: “Spring Migration”
 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Summer 2025
May 10, 2025: “Wildflowers & Thorns” 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
June 14, 2025: “Crepuscular Creepers” 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
July 8, 2025: “Summer Survival” 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. 

Please bring a picnic lunch, picnic blanket, sunscreen/bug repellent, and plenty of water for everyone. Staff will be scattered around the area to answer questions and give background information on plants, animals, and the stories of these spaces.

Dive into Aquatic Science!

Important Information:

  • Age Range: Grades 7-12
  • Student Limit: 24 participants (first come, first served – registration required)
  • Parent Participation: Parents are required to remain on-site during the field trip program.
  • What to Bring: Snacks, lunch, and water.

Program Details:
Students will explore the world of aquatic ecosystems through hands-on activities designed for students in grades 7-12. This educational experience will immerse participants in the wonders of aquatic science and conservation, featuring engaging activities like:

  • Bird Watching
  • Net Fishing
  • Water Testing
  • Water Cycle Game
  • Watershed Model Exploration
  • Waters of the World Demonstration

Nature Story Time

Join us for a fun and educational Nature Story Time this November! Our session will feature exciting wildlife stories, an animal meet and greet with some of CBBEP’s animal ambassadors, and engaging craft activities for kids.

This event is perfect for children ages 3-6 and their families, encouraging a love for nature and wildlife conservation.

Come learn, explore, and create with us!
